How the business services fit together

Cornwall Computers works mainly with organisations. The services below can be taken separately or combined. The page for each one describes the process, what is in scope, how interruption is limited, who is accountable, and how data is handled.

If you are unsure where a problem sits, email us and describe the office. We will say which service matches, or that the work is outside this practice.

Managed IT support

This is the ongoing agreement: a named contact, a route for staff to ask for help, and notes a manager can read after the event. It suits an office that wants the ordinary faults and the ordinary changes handled without starting from nothing each time.

Security, backup and Microsoft 365 can sit inside that agreement or be commissioned on their own. A network replacement or an office move is project work, with its own written scope, even when the same contact remains accountable.

Cyber security

Security work here is a staged look at how people sign in, how mail is handled, how devices are updated, and what would happen if a laptop went missing. The result is a written order of changes, not a badge and not a claim about certification.

It is separate from the helpdesk because a review has a beginning and an end. Findings that need ongoing care can then be taken into managed support if you want that.

Networks and Wi-Fi

Network work is about the cabinet, the switches, the Wi-Fi, and who can see what. Staff and guests are separated. Changes are made in a window the office chooses, with the previous setup kept until you accept the new one.

A move to different rooms is not the same job. Cabling, labels and the first morning in a new place are described under office moves. A refresh that stays in the same building stays on the network page.

Backup and data recovery

Backup is a copy kept apart from the system people use every day, plus a restore that has actually been tried. Microsoft 365 on its own is not that copy. Mail and files there can be deleted or encrypted, which is why the two services are written up separately.

Recovery is described in plain limits: what was included, how old the last good copy is, and what a test restore produced. A full return of every file is not promised.

Microsoft 365 and cloud

This is administration of mail, files, sharing and accounts. The tenant stays in the organisation's name. Joiners and leavers are handled against a written instruction, including the same-day removal of access when someone leaves.

Licence invoices can remain with you or with an existing reseller. Administration does not require that relationship to move. Backup of the tenant is a different decision and is not assumed.

Hardware supply and repair

Business laptops, desktop PCs, screens, docks and other peripherals are chosen for the job the person does, then set up to a written standard and recorded as assets. Repair is considered before replacement, and the other way when a repair would leave the office with a machine that cannot be relied on.

When a machine leaves the organisation, the agreement states whether the drive is wiped or returned to you. Home computers are not supplied from this list. They are on the home and personal page.

Office moves

A new office or a relocation needs an inventory, a desk plan, labels, and a window in which machines can be unplugged without stranding the working day. The first morning is a set of checks: mail, files, print and Wi-Fi, plus a list of anything still open.

Building contracts, furniture and the order for a new line are outside this work. We will say what has to be ordered, and by when, so the IT is not waiting on a decision that was never written down.

Home and personal computer repair is not one of the business services. It is arranged on its own page for households, separately from an organisational agreement.
